Telus Huawei towers a Potential National Security Threat

According to a recent Journal de Montréal article, Telus has nearly 70 cell towers around the Ottawa area using technology from Chinese communications giant Huawei. The paper asked StreamScan CEO Karime Ganame for his take on the situation. "Even if it’s just baked on suspicions and rumours, Ottawa is right to be worried. It’s really close to the decision-making centres," he explained.

According to reports in the Globe and Mail, Telus had signed an agreement with the federal government that no Huawei technology be used near major institutions such as the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), the Bank of Canada or the National Research Centre of Canada.
